Program DescriptionAdmissions RequirementsCourse RequirementsGraduation Requirements
The Graduate Certificate in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Utah teaches a graduate foundational knowledge in Aerospace Engineering. The coursework requires 15 credit hours consisting of 12 core and 3 elective hours. The core topics assure that each student gains critical aerospace engineering knowledge in dynamics, solid mechanics, systems, and thermodynamics or fluids. By earning this certificate, students will gain the skills and tools necessary to understand and solve modern problems in aerospace.
An undergraduate degree from an accredited institution or a comparable institution recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education in one's home country. Students should have an undergraduate foundational knowledge in statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, strength of materials, and controls. This foundational knowledge is typically demonstrated by receiving a B or better in undergraduate courses teaching these topics. However, other methods exist for students to be able to demonstrate their foundational knowledge and such students are encouraged to speak with the Director of Aerospace Engineering Programs regarding admittance.

Satisfying the above requirements does not guarantee admittance. Students still need to apply for the program and be recommended for admission by the department and formally admitted to the U’s as a graduate student. Note: this may be as a nonmatriculated student, which means that the student is not pursuing a graduate degree, but is taking graduate courses, which can lead to a GCAE.
